Over a decade since its establishment, the Psychology Teaching Experimental Center has evolved into a prominent instructional hub serving the Pearl River Delta region and extending its influence nationwide. Dedicated to nurturing talents for comprehensive mental health services, the center boasts a full spectrum of psychological education, research, and services, catering to individuals from childhood through adolescence to old age.

Phase One (2005-2015): Integrating theory with practice, the center saw the nascent development of its laboratories. Kicking off with the admission of the first batch of Applied Psychology undergraduates in 2005, the Psychology Department progressively equipped itself with tools like intelligence tests and the E-prime teaching system. Key facilities, including psychological assessment, behavioral teaching, and counseling labs, were established, thereby outlining the framework of specialized psychology labs. This period was marked by a teaching approach that emphasized practical application, fostering a distinctive feature of Shenzhen University's psychology research instruction: "applying learning, promoting mutual growth in teaching and research."

Phase Two (2015-Present): Marked by substantial investments in experimental teaching and maturation of pedagogical concepts, a comprehensive and unique experimental teaching system has been established. Following the founding of the School of Psychology and Sociology in 2015, the discipline entered a rapid growth phase. More than 30 high-caliber professionals were recruited in experimental teaching, accompanied by acquisitions of advanced equipment such as an Elekta Neuromag Triux Magnetoencephalography (MEG), a Siemens Prisma 3.0T functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanner, premium Electroencephalogram (EEG) systems, eye trackers, functional near-infrared imaging (fNIRS) devices, polygraphs, and E-prime 3.0 software. Presently, the center spans over 2,000 square meters, with teaching equipment valued at around 60 million yuan. It now boasts a progressive, three-tiered curriculum ("fundamental experiments – comprehensive experiments – innovative experiments") and a holistic experimental teaching system covering various behavioral experiments and cognitive neuroscience domains.
