
On November 6, 2025, the School of Psychology at Shenzhen University held the 10th Anniversary and Discipline Development Conference at Alumni Plaza. The conference was attended by Prof. Mao Junfa, President of Shenzhen University and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; Wang Yuexing, Deputy Secretary of the CPC University Committee and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission; Wu Baoshui, Deputy Secretary of the CPC University Committee; and Vice Presidents Li Yonghua, Wang Yongcheng, and Zhou Hui. The conference was chaired by Vice President Wang Yongcheng.

The conference also welcomed distinguished guests from across China, including: Luo Wenbo, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee and President of Liaoning Normal University; Mo Lei, Senior Professor at South China Normal University and Former President of the Chinese Psychological Society; Yang Yufang, Former Director of the Institute of Psychology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Former President of the Chinese Psychological Society; Luo Yuejia, Professor at Shenzhen University and President of the Chinese Psychological Society; Shen Mowei, Professor at Zhejiang University and Former President of the Chinese Psychological Society; Bai Xuejun, Vice President of Tianjin Normal University and Former President of the Chinese Psychological Society; Fu Xiaolan, Dean of the School of Psychology at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Former President of the Chinese Psychological Society; Li Hong, Founding Dean of the School of Psychology at Shenzhen University and Former President of the Chinese Psychological Society; Su Yanjie, Professor at Peking University and Former President of the Chinese Psychological Society; Zhang Wenxin, Former Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee of Shandong Normal University and President-Elect of the Chinese Psychological Society; Zhao Shouying, Vice President of Guizhou Normal College; Dong Shenghong, Vice President of Jiangxi Normal University; Li Weijian, Former Vice President of Zhejiang Normal University; and Wang Kai, Professor and Former Vice President of Anhui Medical University.
More than 200 participants attended the conference, including leaders from various schools and administrative divisions of Shenzhen University, members of the School of Psychology leadership team, representatives of alumni, faculty and students, and delegates from partner institutions.

In his address, President Mao Junfa expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all those who have supported the development of the School of Psychology. He noted that over the past decade, the School has made steady progress by leveraging the advantages brought by Shenzhen’s “Dual-Zone” development strategy, achieving substantial results in discipline development, talent cultivation, scientific research, and social services.
President Mao emphasized that the School should continue to focus on nurturing innovative talent, cultivating students with global vision, research potential, and a strong sense of social responsibility. He encouraged the School to further refine its academic directions and strengthen its distinctive features, actively advancing interdisciplinary development under the banner of “Brain Science+” to build a psychology innovation hub with Shenzhen University characteristics.
He also stressed the importance of maintaining a balance between research and application, remaining rooted in the Greater Bay Area, serving societal needs, promoting the translation of research findings, and driving innovation in psychological services—ultimately integrating psychological research into social governance and public policy-making.

In a congratulatory video message, Prof. Lin Chongde, Senior Professor at Beijing Normal University and Former President of the Chinese Psychological Society, extended his warm congratulations on the 10th anniversary of the School of Psychology at Shenzhen University.
He noted that the School has aligned its development with the national Brain Initiative and the needs of social well-being, actively promoting interdisciplinary integration between psychology and fields such as artificial intelligence, and advancing the translation of scientific research into practical applications. Leveraging the strengths of the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area, the School has not only excelled in education and teaching but has also disseminated fundamental research findings through science popularization to better serve society.
Prof. Lin expressed his hope that the School of Psychology will continue to move forward, strive for excellence in the discipline, and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of psychology in China.

In his remarks, Prof. Mo Lei praised the remarkable achievements of the School of Psychology at Shenzhen University. He encouraged the School to continue seizing opportunities, meeting challenges, and striving for even greater accomplishments. He also expressed his hope that young students will aspire to reach new scientific heights and contribute to the advancement of psychology in China.

In his address, Prof. Luo Yuejia noted that over the past decade, the School has developed a distinctive discipline system integrating psychology and brain science, reflective of Shenzhen University’s unique strengths. He expressed his hope that, at this new stage of development, the School will continue to advance its interdisciplinary focus under the “Brain Science+” framework and cultivate even more innovative talent.

Speaking on behalf of partner institutions, Prof. Luo Wenbo delivered congratulatory remarks. He expressed his hope to further strengthen academic exchange and collaboration with fellow institutions and colleagues in psychology, fostering a regular and multi-level platform for interaction. He emphasized working together to play a leading role in the field and to strive toward reaching new heights.

In his remarks, Prof. Li Hong expressed his hope that the School will continue to meet the new challenges posed by the evolving demands of psychology in the new era, and strive to produce influential, landmark achievements at the forefront of the discipline. He emphasized the importance of serving society and demonstrating the sense of responsibility and humanistic care that characterizes psychologists from Shenzhen University.

As an alumni representative, Dr. Liu Tuo, Deputy Dean of the School of Psychology at Tianjin Normal University, delivered remarks. He shared that the School’s guiding spirit has always been a source of strength throughout his career. He encouraged fellow alumni to carry the “Liyuan imprint” with them, to strive for excellence in their respective fields, and to continue contributing to the development of their alma mater.

Dean Chen Qi delivered an overview of the School’s development and outlined its future directions. He emphasized that the School will continue to advance through efforts in faculty development, discipline construction, international collaboration, and social service, adhering to the principles of “bringing in and cultivating talent,” “breaking boundaries,” “expanding cooperation and fostering innovation,” and “translating research into application.” With a heightened sense of responsibility, forward-looking vision, open-minded thinking, and proactive spirit, the School aims to jointly create a new chapter in its development. Since its establishment in 2015, the School of Psychology at Shenzhen University has adhered to the principles of small-scale development, interdisciplinarity, balance between basic and applied research, and coordinated growth across the sciences and humanities. Guided by its motto, “Illuminating the mind through reason; advancing with steadfast practice,” the School remains committed to national strategic needs and societal well-being. Over the past decade, it has built a comprehensive talent-training system spanning undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs, cultivating a cohort of professionals with international perspectives and strong practical abilities. The School has produced a series of influential research outcomes in frontier areas such as cognitive neuroscience and mental health, and has actively promoted the application of psychological knowledge in social governance, enterprise development, and public well-being, demonstrating the responsibility and commitment of “Shenzhen University Psychology.” Looking ahead, the School will deepen educational reform, strengthen interdisciplinary integration between psychology, brain science, and artificial intelligence, and cultivate innovative talent in psychology. It will vigorously promote “Brain Science+” interdisciplinary development, build high-level platforms for cross-disciplinary psychological research, remain rooted in the Greater Bay Area, and uphold the principle of applying research to practice—ensuring that academic advancements continue to support and enhance public well-being.
Following the main conference, the School hosted a series of academic sub-forums, including the Frontier Forum on Discipline Development, the Forum on the Development of Psychology as a Discipline, and the Young Scholars Forum. These events provided a platform for experts, scholars, faculty members, and students to engage in academic exchange. The forums featured keynote presentations by several leading experts in related fields from across China, and multiple parallel sessions were organized to facilitate in-depth discussion, exchange of ideas, and collaborative learning among attendees.

In addition, on the eve of the conference, the School received congratulatory letters and warm wishes from numerous distinguished institutions, including the psychology schools or departments of Peking University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Beijing Normal University, Zhejiang University, East China Normal University, Sun Yat-sen University, South China Normal University, Central China Normal University, the Institute of Psychology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Southwest University, Tianjin Normal University, Capital Normal University, Nanjing Normal University, Guangzhou University, Zhejiang Normal University, Hangzhou Normal University, Shandong Normal University, Shanghai University of Sport, Sichuan Normal University, Guizhou Normal College, Hainan Normal University, Shanghai Normal University, Fujian Normal University, Northwest Normal University, and Hunan Normal University, as well as the Psychological Society of the Tibet Autonomous Region and several colleges within Shenzhen University.
