To effectively advance undergraduate admissions promotion for the new semester, build consensus, and optimize strategies, the School of Psychology held an Undergraduate Admissions Promotion Exchange and Advancement Meetingon the morning of March 6, 2025. The meeting specially invited Chen Nankun, Deputy Director of the Publicity Department of Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen) and Deputy Head of the Hunan Admissions Team, as well as Zhu Lingyan, Director of the Admissions Office of Shenzhen University, and Zhao Xuancai, Deputy Director of the Admissions Office, to provide guidance. Attendees included Chen Qi, Dean of the School of Psychology; Zhang Lunan, Party Secretary; Guo Tianyou, Associate Dean for Teaching; Gao Liang, Deputy Party Secretary; as well as all members of the college's admissions promotion team and some faculty members. The meeting was chaired by Guo Tianyou, Associate Dean for Teaching.

Focusing on Experience Sharing to Enhance Admissions Effectiveness

At the meeting, Deputy Director Chen Nankun shared key insights into high-quality undergraduate admissions based on the admissions experience of Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen). He emphasized that successful admissions work must be built on a strong consensus among all faculty and staff, with a deep understanding of its strategic significance for talent cultivation. Admissions efforts should always focus on the core goal of "attracting high-quality students and supporting talent development." Chen highlighted the importance of establishing a professional admissions team by clearly defining responsibilities, implementing an efficient coordination mechanism, and strengthening team capacity. He also stressed the need to develop differentiated and precise admissions strategies by aligning them with the institution’s academic strengths and the realities of regional education development. During the implementation phase, he underscored the importance of key aspects such as policy interpretation, candidate consultation, and guidance on application submissions. Admissions services should be optimized based on the actual needs of applicants, ensuring a more targeted approach and improved service efficiency. Ultimately, the goal is to build a well-structured and scientifically sound admissions system.

Data-Driven Analysis to Highlight Academic Strengths

Director Zhu Lingyan provided a systematic analysis of the School of Psychology’s undergraduate admissions in recent years, focusing on student quality in Hunan Province, trends in major selection, and admission data. She pointed out that psychology, as a key interdisciplinary field, should actively promote integration and innovation with other disciplines to enhance applicants' understanding of the field’s future prospects. Additionally, she recommended that the school adjust its admissions promotion strategies dynamically in response to the new college entrance examination reforms, aiming to optimize the student recruitment structure.

Building Consensus to Improve Student Recruitment Quality

In his concluding remarks, Associate Dean Guo Tianyou emphasized that admissions work is not only a fundamental task of the school but also a responsibility that requires dedication, patience, and enthusiasm. He urged all faculty and staff to follow the "Three Hearts" principle:

At the end of the meeting, Dean Chen Qi and Party Secretary Zhang Lunan outlined the key objectives for admissions: The entire school should adopt a comprehensive and coordinated approach, ensuring that all faculty members actively participate throughout the process. Guided by the mission of education, the school aims to attract outstanding students who possess both academic potential and a strong sense of social responsibility, striving for a breakthrough in both the quantity and quality of student admissions this year.

This meeting provided clear direction and a structured approach for the School of Psychology’s 2025 admissions efforts. Moving forward, the school will refine task assignments, integrate internal and external resources, and promote the deep integration of admissions promotion with academic brand development, laying a solid foundation for enhancing the quality of talent cultivation.
