Lecturer’s Resume:

Randall W. Engle is an American psychologist who serves as a professor of psychology and the principal investigator in the Attention & Working Memory Lab at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is also a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and a newly elected member of the National Academy of Sciences.

Prof. Engle is known for his research on working memory, attentional control, and human intelligence. Specifically, his research investigates the nature of working memory, the causes of its limitations, its role in applied cognitive tasks, and the relationships between working memory, cognitive control, and fluid intelligence. According to Google Scholar, his work has been cited over 54,000 times. He is a fellow of the American Psychological Association, Association of Psychological Science, American Association for the Advancement of Science, Society of Experimental Psychology, the Memory Disorders Research Society, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He has served as Chair of the Governing Board of the Psychonomic Society, Chair of the Board of the Council of Graduate Departments of Psychology (COGDOP), and President of Division 3 of APA. He received the first APA Division 3 Lifetime Achievement Award.
